Melissa Barrera has broken her silence after being fired from the upcoming horror film, 'Scream VII'. Taking to Instagram Stories, Barrera made a statement condemning hate and prejudice of any kind, specifically addressing anti-Semitism and Islamophobia.

"As a proud Mexicana and Latina, I strongly condemn any form of hate and prejudice, including anti-Semitism and Islamophobia," Barrera stated. She emphasized her responsibility as someone with a platform to raise awareness about important issues and lend her voice to those in need.

Barrera expressed her belief in equal human rights for every person, irrespective of their religion, race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, or socio-economic status. She also stressed the importance of holding governing bodies accountable and the need for open dialogue and criticism.

"I pray for an end to violence and for peaceful co-existence. My commitment to speaking out for those in need will remain unwavering as I strive for peace, safety, and the protection of human rights and freedom," Barrera continued.

In response to Barrera's departure from 'Scream VII', Spyglass Media, the production company, released a statement affirming their zero-tolerance policy towards anti-Semitism, hate speech, and incitement of any kind. The statement clarified that Barrera's departure was due to her social media posts related to the Israel-Hamas conflict.

Shortly after Barrera's exit, it was also confirmed that Jenna Ortega would not be returning to the film.
